Friedemann Vogel in Salzburg

Friedemann Vogel by Yan Revazov

Friedemann is thrilled to perform “Die Seele am Faden/Soul Threads” at the season-opening of the Salzburg Landestheater, with the Salzburg Ballet dancing Ravel’s Boléro in a choreography by Yonggeol Kim, as the second part of a special double-bill.

Drawing from Heinrich von Kleist’s seminal text “On the Marionette Theatre”, Friedemann’s critically acclaimed solo explores questions of grace, control, and freedom, making the body itself the site of philosophical reflection, between weightlessness and groundedness, technical precision and emotional openness.

Co-created with visual artist and choreographer Thomas Lempertz, and featuring live music by Alisa Scetinina, “Die Seele am Faden/Soul Threads” premiered at the Kleist Forum in February 2024, and has since played to full houses across venues in Germany and Italy, winning two Danza & Danza Awards, including Choreography and Interpretation for Friedemann.  It now makes its Austrian premiere in Salzburg, on 5th and 6th September.
